A soul song is a melody or a fragment of a melody that you have written, with your own voice, for yourself and your own soul.  Maybe it contains a part of you.  It can be casual or serious, short or long, simple or ornate.  (I prefer simple, but that’s just me.)  You can write as many soul songs as you like and take them wherever you go, or stick with the same one for years.  There are no rules.

When I ask you to write a soul song, what I am hoping is that you will find pleasure in creating a gift for yourself.
